Bladder Control

Wouldn't life be better? Imagine the difference.

Sometimes you cough, laugh, or sneeze and it happens - that annoying dribble. Or you don't make it to the nearest bathroom. It's a serious quality of life issue for one out of three women. You'd love to ditch the pantyliners if you could, right?

Nobody likes the term “incontinence.” In fact, many women who leak a bit now and then, or say “no thanks!” when the grandkids want to jump on a trampoline, or never pass up a bathroom opportunity don’t think they're incontinent. But they do have a problem. Yes, the severity and circumstances vary but there's one sure test - most women who have had vaginal births or hormonal fluctuations cannot jump on a trampoline and avoid the dribble. Maybe you haven't tried that lately (and I haven't dragged trampolines into the waiting rooms yet for you to try) so here are a few more...

Are you struggling to return to normal as a new mommy?

Do you plan your walks or runs around restroom availability?

Can you do jumping jacks without leaking?

Do you get up in the middle of the of the night to pee, and if so how many times?

Don't be embarrassed - it's normal. We promise. If you're peri or post menopausal or have birthed a baby naturally, pretending you don't leak urine or have pelvic floor issues is as silly as pretending you don't color your hair. After asking women for years about bladder leakage, we estimate 75% of those women have bladder control issues and the National Association for Continence statistic showing 30% of women have incontinence is ridiculously underreported. And many studies show that with age and especially after childbirth, urinary issues affect about 50% of the female population.

There are different types of problems too (and we can treat all of them!) SUI is when the bladder leaks with changes in pressure. The urethra simply doesn't have support. It could be going from lying down to sitting, sneezing, coughing, laughing, running, or jumping. UUI is when you have a strong, sudden need to urinate and delaying it is impossible. Oftentimes the bladder spasms, and your entire bladder empties. Many women have a mixture or simply feel like they have to pee all the time.

  • Stress incontinence happens when you strain -- it could be lifting, jumping, even just a little sneeze or cough can cause leakage.
  • Urge incontinence means "when you have to go, you have to go NOW!"
  • Overactive Bladder Syndrome is usually described as having to urinate very often, even though it's sometimes very small amounts. For some women, it's almost a constant sensation of having to urinate.

But actually, most women have overlapping symptoms -- some combination of all 3 is typical.

For our grandmothers, pessaries and bladder surgery were the only solutions. The good news is that for most women, there are easier and more effective solutions.

Regenerative treatments like MorpheusV, FormaV, PRF, and VTone dramatically help and sometimes eliminate bladder leaking after just 3 painless, no-downtime treatment sessions. Each treatment uses a different form of energy to firm and tighten underlying tissue and stimulate new collagen, as well as strengthen and renew muscle function and pelvic floor strength. Not only does that restore vaginal volume, appearance, and sensation, it also dramatically reduces or eliminates bladder leakage and urinary frequency or urgency (and there are some bedroom benefits too!) without surgery.

At RegenCen, we are committed to making your life better. We're women. We understand. We've had the treatments and we've performed over a thousand treatments. It's easy to get started - consultations are complimentary in our Petoskey or Traverse City location with our female Physician Associates. overactive bladder & stress incontinence treatments
a step-by-step guide

BEFORE TREATMENT

You will have a consultation with one of our Physician Associates in Petoskey or Traverse City to assess the type(s) of urinary incontinence you’re experiencing and develop a customized plan to improve your bladder control and any other vaginal concerns.

DAY OF TREATMENT

Most treatments need very little preparation, have no downtime, and can be performed on the same day. If your treatment plan involves muscle strengthening with VTone, that will be performed first followed by the FormaV / MorpheusV combo. If MorpheusV is recommended, you will have topical anesthetic applied to make the treatment completely tolerable. You may drive yourself to and from all of your treatments.

AFTER TREATMENT

There are very few or no restrictions for most treatments. With MorpheusV for incontinence or overactive bladder, you will need to avoid intercourse, pelvic exams, and tampons for 2-3 days and keep the area moist with Vaseline. Most patients notice some results after the first treatment and more improvement after a series of treatments. Most patients schedule maintenance treatments annually.
