Get to know your provider Angela

We sat down with Angela “Angie” Zunzunegui, PA-C, who sees patients at RegenCen in Marco Island, Naples, and North Naples. Angie opened up about her own wellness journey, her passion for helping patients feel like themselves again, and why she believes regenerative medicine is changing the way women age.

Tell us a little about yourself outside of work.
I live in Naples with my two kids, who are 16 and 18. Outside of work, I love live music—whether it’s concerts or outdoor festivals. I also enjoy reading, traveling to new cities, riding my Peloton, and watching sports, especially hockey, soccer, baseball, and football.

What’s your medical background, and where did you work before joining RegenCen?
Before joining RegenCen, I worked at Naples Aesthetic and Wellness Institute (NAWI). My background began in aesthetics, which eventually led me to regenerative medicine. I loved the idea of bringing together aesthetics and medical expertise, helping patients not only look their best but also feel their best.

Have you tried any RegenCen treatments yourself?
Yes, I’ve tried most of them. My journey started with medical weight loss, where I lost 65 pounds and have been able to maintain it. I’ve also done NAD+ therapy, which gave me noticeable improvements in energy, and I use testosterone pellets every few months. I’ve even tried PRF for sexual health and was amazed by the results. Experiencing these treatments myself gives me firsthand knowledge to share with my patients.

What inspired your passion for hormone health and regenerative medicine?
I started in aesthetics, but when I reached the stage of life where hormones and energy became more personal, I wanted to dive deeper. With regenerative medicine, I feel like I get to use my medical training in a more meaningful way. It challenges me intellectually and personally, and because I’m in the same age range as many of my patients, I understand firsthand how important these therapies can be.

What are the most common concerns you hear from patients?
Fatigue and weight gain are at the top of the list, often followed by decreased libido. Many patients come to me after realizing their hot flashes and night sweats were only part of the picture—what really impacts them is energy, weight changes, and intimacy.

Do you have a favorite patient success story?
While I don’t have one single story that stands out, many of my patients share how life-changing it is to restore their libido or feel energized again. For so many, that shift makes them feel like themselves for the first time in years, and that’s powerful to witness.

What’s one thing you wish more people knew about regenerative medicine?
That weight-loss medications like semaglutide or tirzepatide aren’t just about the scale—they also reduce inflammation and improve overall health. There’s still stigma around these therapies, but they can be truly transformative, not only for weight but also for energy, confidence, and long-term wellness.

How do aesthetics and regenerative medicine work together in your practice?
They really complement one another. Patients want to feel on the inside the way they look on the outside, and vice versa. Combining aesthetics with hormone optimization and regenerative therapies allows us to create results that are both visible and deeply felt.

Where do you see hormone replacement and regenerative medicine heading in the next decade?
I think we’ll continue to see the stigma fade. Even in the last few years, more gynecologists are referring patients to us, which shows how the medical community is opening up to the value of hormone replacement. I believe we’ll see bioidentical hormone therapy become more mainstream and accepted as essential to longevity and health.

What’s your favorite part about working with RegenCen?
The variety of therapies we offer. Every patient is different, and having so many options means we can truly personalize care. I also joined because of Hanna, who first connected me to the team. But what’s kept me here is the ability to help people transform their lives in a way that feels both meaningful and lasting.

And just for fun, what’s your coffee order?
I like to keep it simple with a cortadito—espresso with milk.
